It was a very good week for us at Summer Nationals in Columbus, OH. We had 14 competitors compete in 32 events throughout the 9 days we were there. Our best results came from our Men’s Foil Team who placed 7th out of 45 teams! The team consisted of Ali Shafaie, Kaveh Shafaie, and Nathan Peters. They beat RedStar Chicago 45-37 in the opening round before drawing the JO Champions Manhattan FC. They won 45-39 in that bout after stellar performances from all three guys. They lost in the quarterfinals to the eventual winners San Francisco FC. Anika Patel did excellent in Div2, finishing in 11th place! We also had Nick Reznick earn national points in Y14 after pulling off several upsets on his way to the round of 64. Kaveh Shafaie also added more points in Junior and Div1 with top-64 finishes in both events! The following fencers were excellent in their Summer Nationals debuts as well: Devin Gasiorowski, Thomas Levchook, Bryant Barca, Sammy Belokon, Trey Arico, James Garr, Hassan Choudhry, and Hannaan Choudhry!
