In back-to-back weekends, our own Sam Belokon earned new ratings in both Foil and Epee! On Friday 7/28, Sam placed 1st in our E & Under Epee event to earn his E rating! He was undefeated the whole night and ended up winning 15-4 in the Finals to earn his Epee rating. On 8/4, we had a Division 2 Foil event where several of our fencers did an excellent job. In the Mixed event, Sam Belokon placed 1st to get his D23 rating, Nathan Peters placed 2nd, and John Sorsaia placed 3rd to renew his E23 rating. We also had Vinil Polepalli place 5th, Drew Visconti in 6th, Jason Sobon in 11th, Chris Alexander in 13th, Kerem Dulger in 14th, Lucas Xu in 15th, and Jack Schatzle in 18th.
In the Women’s event, we had Tatyana Bulava place 2nd, Elizabeth Bekiyants & Darby Ko tied for 3rd, Gwen Ramos placed 6th, Alexis Lezhansky placed 8th, and Cadence Chang in 9th. All of them picked up victories and valuable experience going into this season.
On July 28’s Epee event, we had Sam and Chris finish 1st and 3rd respectively out of 8 fencers, and Sam earned his E rating! Chris lost a close 15-14 bout in the semi-finals to place 3rd in only his second epee tournament. Congrats to you both!
